This week is a great show with the super writer Judy Insley and Almost Perfect. Judy has a crystal clear voice and a spectacular style so do yourself a favor and get to the sho on Sunday March 28 6 PM.
The shows are free but get there cause we have a really really cozy space.

Guitars for kids

This Saturday March 20 is the 8th annual effort to raise some coins to support CRAIG CARRICK's GUITARS FOR KIDS. The show is a huge 8 hour marathon of musicians, singers, and writers putting it all out there for the younger set, making new singers and writers for years to come. The show is at CALLAHANS in Auburn Hills and starts at 3PM. The address is on the A3radio.com website.
We will be broadcasting this show featuring Jill Jack, The Blue Water Ramblers, Mike Vial and many others. Dave Boutette will MC and with Bootsey at the helm you are sure to get a great afternoon of music.
The awards are made at the NOREAST'r Music and Art Festival in Mio Michigan on the second weekend in June. If you cant make the festival make the show. I'll see you there!

FOLK IT! kicks off its 10th season on Sept 13th with ANNIE & ROD CAPPS. While the tradition of Annie and Rod is only a few years old we try to set our standards high and the CAPPS always deliver. Armed with a new CD, "MY BLUE GARDEN" they are sure to rock the place. Space is cozy(to be generous) so get your reservation early. Call 761 6874 because we only have about 20 seats. It will be the best show this year.

Magic at HollerFest

The fest is now over but we are all still groovin on the spectacular things that happened. Music, art, great people and yes, even a strong vibe of LOVE in the air. I did not still think that was possible but it happened.
It so moved my partner in broadcasting that he reviewed it for the Ann Arbor.com group and I cant add anything that is significant.
Be sure to catch it cause I cant copy it yet.

Today is the start of HOLLERFEST in Brooklyn Michigan. The fastest growing fest in the Ann Arbor area it features some of the best local artists in the midwest. It is cheap as festivals go with FREE camping on the grounds of a working organic farm.

Johnny’s Speakeasy is a great place to see a show. In the former apple cellar and speakeasy, music is king ,and Johnny is the reigning Prince of genial hosts, making folks feel at home and talking to everyone as though he has known them for 20 years.

Here was the perfect place to have Annie and Rod Capps stage the release party for their sixth album, “MY BLUE GARDEN”. Along with steel guitar master Drew Howard (Capt. Midnight), Tommy Emmanuel rival Jason Dennie, and singer, Christine Schinker doing harmonies, the packed crowd was treated to the incredible prospect of a 2 hour and twenty minute extravaganza of music from one of Americas fast rising composers, Annie Capps.
It used to be in the old days, say 5 years ago, that you could say,” Lets go somewhere tonight. Annie and Rod are playing at…insert any number of places” and that would be that. A good time, great music and jaw dropping guitar work from Rod Capps all to be seen in a local haunt. But with the release of “IN THIS TOWN” two years ago Annie Capps took a giant leap into real, solid, introspective, tear your heart out, song writing. The shows still were the same breezy, happy, magical things that they were, with Annie the Master of the live show, holding forth for her friends. But now the music and the lyrics and the delivery were several notches higher. The depth of the words were far deeper and, if possible, Rod’s guitar arrangements, even more melodic and captivating.
MY BLUE GARDEN is a ten song extension of this charge on the music scene. Some of the songs have been performed with The Yellow Room Gang, and most have found their way into the live shows. “Honey, Sugar, Baby, Mine” and Crocodile Man” by Dave Carter are the most tuneful and fun but the other offerings, especially” Sherriff’s Daughter” show Annie Capps at her best. On a par with “In This Town” it will become the most played song on the CD in my opinion.
The new CD is released in July and is available at CD BABY or at www.annieandrodcapps.com.
Get the CD now and see them while you still can. Ann Arbor has lost The Hummingbirds, Al & Whit Hill and Luke Sayers in the last few years. Nashville is not that far away for the Capps and somehow a visit will not be the same as having them here in our town so we can say on any old night, “Let’s go somewhere tonight. Annie and Rod are playing at……. “
